Fish Oil as a Healthy Supplement

Fish is a top way to get your recommended amounts of omega 3 fatty acids, and other healthy nutrients.  The problem is, not everyone likes the taste of fish, and it can be quite expensive, especially when we are told to each eat up to 4 portions of oily fish per week!  Salmon is expensive to buy!  There is an alternative for those who would rather not eat fish all week – fish oil capsules!

Fish oil capsules are formulated with high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are great for the heart, the cardiovascular system and the bones.  There is even some evidence that fish oil can be useful in terms of weight loss, helping our bodies to metabolise fat from our cells.

The recommended amount to take each day is normally one capsule, however these are different depending on the brand and the proportion of omega-3 oil inside each capsule.  Always check on the direction for each brand you buy, as they can vary.
